Garden Rejuvenation – Minnamurra Headland
Over the past several months, Minnamurra Lions have been undertaking a project to rejuvenate the garden and surrounds near the helipad on Minnamurra Headland. This garden and rockwork was originally constructed by Club members some years ago but the ravages of the prevailing weather on the exposed headland had certainly laid waste to the original plantings and surrounds.
The crew worked at removing the weeds and overgrown plants that had taken over the garden and restored the bluestone surrounds to the garden bed. With the help of new plants and a load of mulch – courtesy of Kiama Municipal Council, the garden is starting to look like it did when it was in its original splendour.
The Club has now scheduled regular maintenance for the freshly sprouting garden and aims to make it a fitting entrance to the headland carpark that leads to the Minnamurra Headland walk and the whale-watching platform that was also constructed by members of the Club.
