The Gerringong Lions Club, one of the two Clubs in the local area that the Minnamurra Club often shares activities with, recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a special dinner at the Gerroa Boat Fisherman’s Club.

A few of the members of Minnamurra Club went along to the evening to help celebrate this milestone event along with the Lions District Governor, Lion Danny Richardson and his partner Chris and a number of foundation members of the Gerringong Club.

A special moment in the evening was the rather informal, but highly entertaining address by Lion Geoff Heinecke. Geoff is a member of Kiama Lions Club but was instrumental in the formation of the fledgling club in Gerringong all those years ago. Geoff’s recounting of the seminal days of the Gerringong Lions and trying to get local folk interested in joining the new club brought a note of levity along with some welcome memories of those days some 30 years ago.
