Kiama Municipal Council organised an expo of volunteer-focused community organisations from the Kiama area in May. Minnamurra Lions featured at the expo and shared their marquee with volunteers from WIRES Illawarra and the community group ‘The Simple Gift of a Bag’ – the volunteers that make and distribute drainage bags for breast cancer patients all across Australia.

The expo was conducted alongside the usual Wednesday Farmers and Growers Market at Surf Beach in Kiama and despite the extremely windy weather, there was a lot of interested people in attendance on the day.

Club members Bill Lyon, Paul McInerney and John Knox mingled with other volunteers and chatted with interested market patrons about the things the club does for the community. In all, it was an extremely successful event and helped to spread the word about what Lions Club do and how they contribute to community cohesion.
