Lions Clubs like Minnamurra, with the support of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), are dedicated to improving the lives of the visually impaired and preventing avoidable blindness.

We do this by being active participants in the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP). LEHP aims to reduce the incidence and impact of vision loss in Australia through education and awareness activities, promoting eye examinations and conducting free children’s vision screenings.

LEHP has partnered with the former Centre for Eye Health and Optometry Australia to create a comprehensive Children’s Vision Screening Program as well as educational initiatives on avoidable vision loss in Australian adults.

At the beginning of each calendar year, the LEHP National Chair sets a goal for the number of vision screenings the program plans to undertake through our Children’s Vision Screening Program. For 2026 this number was set at 17,000 – five thousand higher than in 2025. It was recently announced that the program has officially exceeded this target in July !
