On Sunday 5th March, a group from the Minnamurra Lions, together with some other willing volunteers, cleaned up the Minnamurra River headland and Mystics Beach.

The crew worked in two teams – one of which swam across the Minnamurra River and cleaned up Mystics Beach whilst the other team walked the Minnamurra headland and cleaned up the rubbish they found along the way.

The teams met up for a welcome cuppa at the Minnamurra General Store after the clean up and swapped stories of their efforts.

Perhaps the most intriguing find on the day was an abandoned sea kayak found amongst the bushes and mangroves along the river water’s edge (see the photo above).

In all, it was a most successful event and the Club is looking forward to next year’s clean up day.
